welcome
Our company name is inspired by Shakespeare’s assertion that:
“Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.”

As actors, we become those walking, talking 'shadows' that Shakespeare references
in this excerpt from Macbeth: one of his many connections between life and theatre.
Often full of sound and fury, and all too frequently idiotic,
we actors enjoy little more than our time spent strutting and fretting on the stage.

Talking Shadows is a theatre company dedicated to
nurturing and showcasing the very best young and emerging talent.

Founder and Artistic Director Rebecca Vines was awarded the
Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts in 2014 for her outstanding work in youth theatre.
Rebecca has been writing, directing and producing
critically acclaimed shows for two decades,
and her sell-out productions are a regular feature at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Previous actors have gone on to work professionally in
theatre, music, design and journalism.
